Spring is here and with it comes the outdoor track season in Northern Virginia. NVA Track, one of the region's largest and most respected youth track clubs, opens its 2026 outdoor season on March 30 — and the club is coming off a strong indoor campaign.
About NVA Track
Based in Ashburn, Virginia, NVA Track serves athletes ages 6 through 19 (grades 1–12). The club's programming spans the full development spectrum — from true beginners finding their footing in athletics for the first time, to elite-level competitors chasing national qualifying marks.
That range is the club's core strength. Athletes at NVA Track are not all on the same trajectory, and the coaching staff builds individualized development pathways that reflect where each athlete is and where they are trying to go.
Practice Schedule
The outdoor season practice schedule runs three days per week:
- Monday — 6:00–7:15 PM
- Wednesday — 6:00–7:15 PM
- Thursday — 6:00–7:15 PM
Athletes typically compete in 3–4 track meets per season, giving them meaningful competition reps without overloading the schedule.
Elite Team
NVA Track's elite team is invitation-only and operates on a different competitive calendar — attending local, regional, and national championship meets. Selection for the elite program is based on demonstrated performance and coaching evaluation of long-term potential.
Year-Round Programming
NVA Track is not just an outdoor program. The club runs a full cross country season in the fall and an indoor track program through the winter. The indoor 2026 season wrapped on February 20, giving athletes a brief transition window before the outdoor season launch on March 30.
The Broader Track World
For context on the global stage, the 2026 World Indoor Championships kicked off March 20 in Poland — the premier indoor track event bringing together the best athletes from every nation. Youth athletes in programs like NVA Track are being developed in an ecosystem that flows from local meets all the way to that world stage.
Connection to Flag Football
Many of Legacy 7 United's athletes also compete in track programs like NVA Track. The speed, agility, and competitive mindset developed on the track transfers directly to the flag football field. Multi-sport development is a core philosophy at Legacy 7, and track & field is one of the best complements to flag football development that exists.
